A Model 3 for Under 14k

What would you say if you could get a brand new Tesla Model 3 for under 14k?

You would probably be sceptical - and you’d be right to be. Not because there’s anything wrong with the vehicle, but because in order to get the price down so low… you have to live in the right place - and do a lot of homework.

Meet Zohar.

Zohar is the proud new owner of a Model 3, which he received for the price of $13,620.00 (before taxes) - and on July 20th, he made a post on Twitter detailing how he was able to use a combination of state and local rebates to get the cost of his new car down from just under 38k.

First, Zohar starts out by ordering a base Model 3 with a white interior that was already in the inventory of a Tesla dealership where he lives in California. That nets him a $4120 discount. He also gets the $500 referral bonus, so at this point, the car’s price is $36,620.

He then explains that due to a “unique financial situation” last year, he qualifies for increased rebates for every program for low income individuals, AND nets a $7500 federal tax credit.

He then applies for as many rebates and credits as he can, and gets a further $15,500 from three other local and state programs - like the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project.

For those keeping track, Zohar has managed to get $27,620 in price reductions from inventory discounts, referral programs, rebates and tax credits - lowering the cost of his new Tesla Model 3 to just under $14,000 dollars before tax is added.

Now, some of these are tax credits, which Zohar won’t be seeing until he files his taxes later on - but this extreme example is possible thanks mostly to the big push from the federal government and the programs introduced through the Inflation Reduction Act.

Zohar basically walked up to a Tesla dealership armed with a list of rebate programs, and proceeded to combo the price tag of a Model 3 like he was playing Street Fighter.

So if you’re on the lookout for a new electric car, you should look up the incentives you can apply for, and just cut those sticker prices in half.
