Tesla Cautiously Releases FSD 10.69

Tesla has begun slowly rolling out the new FSD Beta 10.69  patch to a limited number of testers this weekend, as the company announced a price increase in the near future.

The news, as usual, came from CEO Elon Musk’s twitter account, but drivers were already getting videos out testing the new changes - most of which revolved around better detection and safer unprotected turns. The release notes can be found here.

In particular, the infamous Chuck Cook’s unprotected left turn - which was specifically mentioned in the patch notes - was solved, and Cook himself quickly tested the update successfully.

As for the price increase, again we get that news directly from Elon. In a tweet, the CEO announced that the FSD price would be raising to $15k USD in North America on September 5th, and that the current price would be honoured for folks who made their purchase before that point. Currently the cost for FSD is about $12k USD.

And that’s a pricey hike, for sure. Obviously the economy isn’t doing great right now, so Tesla raising the price on their FSD systems isn’t surprising. No word yet on if the price hikes will affect the Enhanced Autopilot as well, but if it is we’ll likely see another announcement soon.

It’s good to see the FSD chugging along regardless. Every update makes the software more sophisticated and capable. It’s really just a matter of time before it’s safer than human drivers.
